Samara Lombok has been fully funded by Westgrove Partners for the final phase of development of this integrated luxury resort on Lombok Island, Indonesia, and will open its doors to its first guests in Q1 2028, accelerating the development of this 150-acre beachfront destination on Lombok’s beautiful south coast.
At the same time, the developer announced the opening of South-east Asia’s first Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre at Samara Lombok, the first time one of the world’s leading sports lifestyle brands has come to the region. Among many sporting and leisure amenities at the resort, the new tennis facility will feature four professional tennis courts and four padel courts, while offering Rafa Nadal inspired coaching and training programmes for discerning guests.
Located a 25 minute drive from Lombok International Airport, Samara Lombok will also be the first ever Destination by Hyatt in South-east Asia. The first phase of this luxury resort community will include three boutique-hotel brands, 150 luxury villas and 12 unique dining venues, with a future phase of development to deliver a total of up to 500 luxury villas. Construction is well underway at the resort which broke ground mid-2021 with the first restaurant, showroom, accommodation, organic gardens and food production all making considerable progress, along with the construction of over 50 luxury villas, the Clubhouse and the Tiga Kelapa lifestyle district.
An active lifestyle resort, guests at Samara Lombok will be able to indulge in the thrills of the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, alongside F&B concessions created in partnership with celebrity chef Will Meyrick, children’s cookery expert Annabel Karmel MBE and luxury expeditions brand Rascal Voyages, providing specialist marine activities and watersports. The development will also feature a football academy including a football training centre fitted out with the help of an elite football club.
The resort will also offer an alternative to the region’s short-term ‘timeshare’ model, where villa leases are typically between six and 24 months, and the option to buy a villa on a 90-year leasehold basis. It provides an attractive investment opportunity for those looking for a second home in Indonesia and international investors looking for long term yields. With more than US$3.2 billion in government approved infrastructure investment, Lombok is set to become one of the most sought after luxury resort destinations in South-east Asia.
With funding now in place, development fast-tracked, and a compelling roster of international luxury hotel and lifestyle partners signed up, Samara Lombok is set to become one of Indonesia’s most exciting new luxury resort communities when it opens its doors to the public in 2028.
