Boutique Hotels in Martinique Offer Authentic Caribbean Escapes

While many Caribbean destinations have large scale beachfront resorts, boutique hotels in Martinique provide a unique blend of local flavour, culture and cuisine. According to the Martinique tourism office, the island’s boutique hotels offer an opportunity to get away from it all while still being close to local colour, Creole culture and a chance to experience everyday Martinique.

Hotel French Coco is a boutique hotel with only 17 suites, most with private plunge pools set in the middle of tropical gardens, located in the surf village of Tartane on the Atlantic coast. Another favourite is the Hotel Plein Soleil in Le François with 16 different art-filled rooms and suites with panoramic views of the coast from Pointe Thalemont. La Suite Villa in Les Trois-Îlets offers a modern take on Martinique’s vibrant Caribbean atmosphere, featuring bright artistic touches, private villas and the celebrated restaurant Le Zandoli, which blends fresh local ingredients with French elegance.

Meanwhile, the Hotel L’Imperatrice in Fort-de-France has been offering a taste of traditional Martinique for more than 70 years. The historic hotel has kept much of its early charm with traditional mahogany furnishings. It houses the popular restaurant Le Josephine, serving local Martinican specialities in a daily buffet.

Other options are Courbaril Village for a more barefoot beach escape, Hotel Sable Bleu near the marina in Le Marin and Bambou Hotel with its colourful cottages just steps from a local beach.
